My Approach

In my private practice, I work from an integrative approach to therapy.  Simply, this means that I draw from a variety of different theories, tools and techniques to both explore what is going on and how we might focus our work.  You get to decide which areas and issues are important to collaborate together on.

In my view, there isn’t just one way to make a change!  Thus, I borrow from a variety of approaches to understand the unique layers, dimensions and patterns we all have as human beings in our personal and professional lives.  Although this list below is non-exhaustive, I tend to draw on any combination of the following approaches:

  • Attachment-based techniques
  • Cognitive-behavioural therapy
  • Creative and expressive art therapy
  • Ego-based and psychodynamic modalities
  • Experiential therapeutic tools (e.g. sandtray, focusing)
  • Family systems theory and approaches
  • Narrative and solution-focused modalities
  • Person-centred and existential approaches
  • Schema-based therapy

What is key about my therapeutic approach is that it is driven by your comfort, safety and goals.   Please do ask questions when we are working together.  Questions are welcome!

You can expect me to seek your feedback in an ongoing way.  I will ask what fits you and if we are heading in the right direction.   I will ask whether we are reaching your vision of well-being and how you think I might adjust to make sure that the therapeutic space, pace and process are helpful to you.
